Letter from our Session Clerk – Mar 2016

Letter from the Session Clerk

As we move through March,  Clincarthill continues with it’s activities and journey through the time of Lent.

We are offering the opportunity to purchase ‘The Real Easter Egg’.  There are a choice of three eggs made with Fairly traded chocolate and a copy of the Easter story. All proceeds going to help farmers in Third World countries.  Sunday @ 7  continues with the Lenten Bible study – ‘The Long Road to Heaven’  based on the film ‘ The Way’ and again the material has provoked thought and discussion.

Saturday, March 19th  is the day for our fourth womens’ conference – Here I am, Lord  with the theme Take Me Deeper.  The conference starts at 10am until 4.15pm, here at Clincarthill church, with Helen Anderson as the keynote speaker and Praise and Worship led once again by Allan McKinley. Ladies if you have not already booked your place please do so as soon as possible. Posters and booking forms are around the church.

During Holy Week we are planning to join once again with our friends at Langside church and further details will appear on the Intimation sheet. We have invited them to join us on Tuesday, March 22nd when we are having another evening of ‘Reading the Word’ – this time the Gospel of JOHN.

On a sad and disappointing note, there will be no Palm Sunday Lunch this year. The Ladies in the Festival Lunch Team have taken this decision with a heavy heart, knowing how disappointed the congregation would be at the news. There are two reasons for this:

1. Several of the ladies are attending the Here I am, Lord  conference and felt that organising and preparing the Sunday lunch would be just too much in one weekend.  2. The team would be depleted on the Sunday due to personal circumstances of some of the ladies and  therefore, preparing the lunch on the Sunday morning would add pressure to those of the group remaining.

The ladies remain committed to continuing the three festive lunches as long as they are able and look forward to serving the Harvest lunch later in the year. As a congregation we are very blessed that the Festival Lunch Team give of their time and effort to serve us such wonderful meals that we can eat as a church family in fellowship together. We thank them sincerely for this and accept and support them in their service to us and to God.

Because of Easter and Holy week falling during March, it has been difficult to organise a suitable date for the Congregation’s Annual Stated Meeting (ASM), not helped by the fact that there is a Scottish Football Cup Final on March 13th .  The ASM will take place on Sunday, April 3rd after morning worship and due notice will be given to the congregation in the weeks ahead.

May I thank every one of you again for all your work during this time of vacancy – for ensuring the organisations and activities here at Clincarthill continue to function.  Everyone of us has our part to play in the ‘body’ of our church and I thank you for keeping everything in working order.

God bless,

Sheila
