My name is Graham, and we return to the Gospel according to Luke, chapter 22, as we hear of Jesus being betrayed yet again; this time by Peter, who denied Jesus three times:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><sup>54<\/sup><\/strong>Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. <strong><sup>55<\/sup><\/strong>And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. <strong><sup>56<\/sup><\/strong>A servant-girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, \u2018This man was with him.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>57<\/sup><\/strong>But he denied it. \u2018Woman, I don\u2019t know him,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>58<\/sup><\/strong>A little later someone else saw him and said, \u2018You also are one of them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Man, I am not!\u2019 Peter replied.<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>59<\/sup><\/strong>About an hour later another asserted, \u2018Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>60<\/sup><\/strong>Peter replied, \u2018Man, I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about!\u2019 Just as he was speaking, the cock crowed. <strong><sup>61<\/sup><\/strong>The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: \u2018Before the cock crows today, you will disown me three times.\u2019 <strong><sup>62<\/sup><\/strong>And he went outside and wept bitterly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Take a moment, and reflect: Peter was Jesus\u2019 best friend and closest disciple. Yet, when it mattered most, Peter pretended that he didn\u2019t even know Jesus. Have you ever found yourself pretending you didn\u2019t know Jesus? How did that feel?
