Letter from our Session Clerk – April 2016
Dear Friends in Clincarthill,
How wonderful it is to see Spring arrive with the profusion of Daffodils, crocus and other spring flowers appear. The daffodils in our church gardens look joyful and cheerful to those who pass or come through the gates. Many people have commented on our gardens and it is thanks to Ian Ritchie that they look so good. By the time everyone reads this the Annual Stated Meeting of the congregation will have taken place and thanks are due to the Session and Board who manage the affairs of Clincarthill so diligently and faithfully in God’s service. During Holy week we met with our friends at Langside for times of worship and reflection. The ‘Reading of the Word’ was a wonderful experience and as you listen it is amazing how much of the Gospel you realise you miss, when we read the selected scriptures week by week. Maundy Thursday Communion in Room and Garden was emotional and members of our congregation who attended other services at Langside were blessed by their time there.
At this time we mourn two of our senior elders, George Clark and Tom Morton, both now with the Lord. We give thanks for both these men who gave long and faithful service to their Lord and to the church. George was ordained as an elder in 1966 ( 49 years) and Tom in 1975 ( 40 years) and both served actively until a couple of years ago when failing health caused them to slow down. Both are sorely missed from our Church family.
We continue with our work at Clincarthill, reaching out to our community and also continuing the search for our new minister. So I ask you all to continue to pray for our work here and for the resolution to our vacancy.
God bless,
Sheila
