Letter from our Session Clerk – Nov 2014
Dear Friends in Clincarthill,
Many thanks to all of you who donated so generously to this year’s Harvest appeal. Shoe boxes were taken by Bill English to Blytheswood down at Hillington. Foodstuffs were taken to both the Lodging House Mission and the food bank run by the Elim Church in Govanhill. Both were very grateful and letters of thanks can be seen on the notice board in the corridor. The chaplain at L.H.M. was especially grateful since their donations were down because many churches were donating to their local food banks.
Rev. John MacGregor preached on September 28th in Clincarthill, chaired the October session meeting and some of you have met him when he has come to the Tuesday Coffee club.
The Sunday @7 bible study on the Beatitudes is going well and the discussion among ourselves has been thought provoking and the fellowship tremendous. Look out for the next Informer magazine when a poem written by Anne Stoddart will appear. (She did her homework!)
I would wish you encourage you all in prayer for our congregation. That we may be open to God’s guidance in the decisions we need to make for our church and when the time comes that we know the minister chosen for us. There are many in our church family who are going through difficult times at present, whether through illness, bereavement or life circumstances. Pray for them and encourage them – it will mean a lot.
As far as procedures for Presbytery are concerned – Vacancy papers have been completed and returned and also the Manse inspection carried out. The next step, I think, will be the attesting of the Electoral roll but members will be aware when that happens.
